Former Black Stars assistant coach, Maxwell Konadu, has praised South Africa for its forward-thinking approach to football development, highlighting the nation as a leading example for other African countries to emulate.
Konadu, who recently coached Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities and previously managed South African club Black Leopards, possesses firsthand insight into South Africa’s footballing structure.
Konadu emphasized that South Africa’s strategic investments in infrastructure, youth development programs, and football governance have positioned it favorably compared to many other African nations.
“It’s a nice place. All that they are doing there, I think, they are showing the way for the rest of Africa to follow; now Morocco is also doing it and hopefully it will spread to the rest of Africa,” Konadu stated.
A well-respected figure in Ghanaian football, Konadu has served in various capacities within the national team setup and is recognized for his sharp eye for talent and tactical understanding of the game.
Notably, Konadu also led Nsoatreman FC to a historic MTN FA Cup victory in 2024, following the team’s impressive fourth-place finish in the Ghana Premier League. His experience both within Ghana and in South Africa lends significant weight to his assessment of the continental football landscape.
