The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that investigations into the kidnapping of two Ghanaian women, who were rescued in Nigeria following a viral video of their ordeal, are still ongoing.

The rescue operation, a joint effort between security agencies from both Ghana and Nigeria, led to the arrest of three suspects in Nigeria and five more in Ghana.

Authorities revealed that these arrests are part of a larger crackdown on a suspected international kidnapping syndicate.

During an interview on May 2, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, assured the public that the victims are safe and in good health.

However, she noted that the investigation is still in progress, and further details—including whether a ransom was demanded—will be shared once the inquiry is completed.

“We’re handling the case with the facts currently available, and as the investigation progresses, we will keep the public informed,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasized.
