Edward Ekuadzi, a 36-year-old pupil teacher from Aflao, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labor for an unfortunate case of abuse involving his 17-year-old daughter.

He appeared before the Denu Circuit Court on May 2, 2025, where he admitted to the charges.

The case came to light when the victim, whose name has been withheld, confided in her mother, Christy Kwau, a trader, about the troubling incidents. Ekuadzi and Kwau are divorced, and their daughter, a Senior High School student, had been living with him since she was very young.

On April 22, 2025, the victim went to her mother’s home in Sepenukope and refused to return to her father’s house.

After some discussion, she revealed that Ekuadzi had engaged in inappropriate behavior with her on two separate occasions—once in March 2025, and again in April 2025. She shared that her father had threatened her if she spoke out.

The victim’s mother promptly reported the matter to the Aflao Police Station, where a medical examination was arranged for the victim.

Ekuadzi was arrested and questioned on April 30, 2025, during which he admitted to the incidents, confessing that it had occurred on three occasions.
