In a collaborative effort between the Ghana Police Service, the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and the Nigeria Police Force, two women who were kidnapped and featured in a viral, disturbing video have been successfully rescued.

The harrowing footage, which circulated widely on social media, showed one victim being brutally assaulted with a machete while nude, sparking widespread outrage and prompting immediate action from law enforcement.

The Ghana Police confirmed the rescue in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that eight individuals had been arrested in connection with the crime. These arrests were made across various locations in both Ghana and Nigeria.

Among those arrested was Okoribe Olohitare Ejeme, a female security employee at Port Harcourt International Airport in Nigeria, who is believed to be one of the leaders of the kidnapping syndicate.

Her arrest followed a coordinated operation involving both Ghanaian and Nigerian authorities.

The police thanked the NSB and the Nigerian Police Force for their crucial role in the successful rescue and arrests. A statement from the Ghana Police Service highlighted the collaboration between the forces, which played a key part in the operation’s success.

One of the victims, 39-year-old Ama Serwaa Konadu, a renowned hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in the Eastern Region, was abducted on April 22, 2025.

Authorities have praised the efforts of the security agencies involved, and further updates on the ongoing investigation are expected as the case progresses.
