Adu-Boahene’s Lawyers Accuse AG of Bias and Prejudice

Defence lawyers criticize the Attorney General for making allegations before the completion of investigations

Lawyers for Kwabena Adu Boahene, former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine for publicly declaring their clients guilty before trial.

Their concerns stem from a March 24 press conference, where Dr. Ayine linked Adu Boahene’s arrest to an alleged $7 million fraud involving a cybersecurity contract.

The AG claimed that funds intended for a national cyber defense system were misappropriated into private accounts.

In a strongly worded statement, the legal firm Zoe, Akyea & Co. condemned the remarks as “prejudicial,” arguing that the Attorney General’s public comments amounted to a premature conviction while investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) were still ongoing.

The lawyers emphasized the need for due process, stating that all investigations must remain impartial and free from political influence. They warned that premature public scrutiny could unfairly damage reputations before formal charges are even filed.

They reiterated that the rule of law must guide all legal proceedings, stressing that suspects deserve fair treatment without being subjected to “trial by media.”
