President Mahama to Deliver National Address on 120-Day Governance Report

President John Dramani Mahama is set to address the nation on Wednesday, May 7, with a special broadcast highlighting the progress of his 120-day governance contract with the people of Ghana.

The announcement came from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communication, who urged all Ghanaians to tune in and personally assess the President’s performance over the past four months.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, the address will offer transparency and accountability, allowing citizens to gauge how faithfully President Mahama has followed through on the promises outlined in his short-term action plan.

“On Wednesday, the President will report on his leadership and the degree to which he has delivered on his commitments. I encourage everyone to listen in and judge for themselves how closely the administration has stuck to its word,” Ofosu stated during an interview May 5.

The President’s address will spotlight several accomplishments under the 120-day plan, including:

  • Streamlining government by reducing ministerial positions to lower costs.

  • Convening a National Economic Dialogue to develop a homegrown fiscal recovery strategy.

  • Hosting an Education Dialogue to reform and revamp Ghana’s educational system.

  • Launching green initiatives like the ‘Tree for Life’ and ‘Blue Water Initiative’ for environmental sustainability.

  • Introducing the ‘One Million Coders’ Programme to advance digital skills and youth employment.

  • Creating the Mahama Cares Health Fund to bolster healthcare delivery.

  • Eliminating taxes such as the E-Levy, Bet Tax, and Emissions Levy to ease financial pressure on citizens.

  • Funding the Women’s Development Bank to empower women entrepreneurs.

  • Enforcing a Code of Conduct for public officials to ensure integrity in governance.

In addition to reporting on completed actions, President Mahama is expected to unveil further initiatives and update the public on pending projects.
