A simmering land dispute between the communities of Danchira and Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra erupted into violence, leaving ten people injured in two separate attacks.

The initial clash occurred on the evening of Tuesday, April 22, when a confrontation on the outskirts of Domeabra escalated into gunfire.

Several individuals sustained injuries and were first treated at a nearby clinic before being referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) for further care.

Tensions flared again the following afternoon when a retaliatory attack left four more individuals with machete wounds at the same location.

Speaking to Lawson News, Domeabra’s Development Chief, Francis Boateng, explained that the unrest began when a group of workers on a disputed piece of land were attacked by individuals from Danchira, allegedly led by a man named Ashaley. According to Boateng, Ashaley returned later with armed men and began firing indiscriminately at the workers.

Calling for urgent intervention, Chief Boateng urged the police to launch a fair and thorough investigation to prevent further escalation.

In response, the Weija Divisional Police Command, headed by Superintendent Eric Amponsah, has initiated patrols in both communities to maintain peace and security.
