Sky Train Scandal: Ex-GIIF CEO Dodges Prosecution, Hiding in Senegal – Ayine

Attorney General reveals Solomon Asamoah fled Ghana and refuses to return for questioning

Dr. Dominic Ayine, Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, has disclosed that Solomon Asamoah, the former CEO of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and a key figure in the Sky Train Scandal, is evading prosecution by taking refuge in Senegal.

Dr. Ayine revealed that Asamoah, along with then-GIIF Board Chairman Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, authorized a $2 million payment for the controversial Sky Train Project. After leaving Ghana on February 2, Asamoah was initially tracked to South Africa before relocating to Senegal, where he has refused to return for questioning.

Despite attempts to bring him back, Asamoah insists he won’t return for at least three months. Dr. Ayine warned that legal proceedings could still move forward in his absence, with Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi already within reach of prosecutors.

The Sky Train Project, a flagship transport initiative under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, has now turned into a financial scandal, raising concerns over accountability and mismanagement.
