Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has pledged his steadfast dedication to bringing lasting peace to Bawku and its surrounding communities.

This renewed assurance comes after previous peace initiatives were temporarily stalled due to a persistent chieftaincy conflict in the Upper East Region.

Despite the setbacks, the Asantehene remains optimistic that the latest round of dialogue between disputing parties will lead to a sustainable resolution.

Addressing a delegation from the UK Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Manhyia Palace, he emphasized the critical role of peace in driving national progress.

“To achieve development, we need peace. It is our responsibility, as traditional leaders, to resolve conflicts and create a stable environment that enables the government to function effectively,” he stated.

Referring to the recent tensions near Ghana’s northern border with Burkina Faso, the Asantehene reaffirmed his determination to mediate and restore harmony in the region.

“Though there have been recent disturbances in Bawku, we are doing everything possible to ensure a permanent and peaceful solution,” he added.
