Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, has called for unity within the party despite its defeat.

Addressing members of the Korle Klottey constituency, he acknowledged that analysis of the 2020 and 2024 election results reveals that the NPP’s decline handed power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of faith and collective effort, urging members to avoid blame games. “God’s ways are not our ways,” he said, encouraging calm and unity. He noted that the NDC’s voter numbers remained consistent between 2020 and 2024, but the NPP’s votes dropped significantly by 40%.

“We have lost the battle, but not the war. Let us rebuild the party together, putting aside personal ambitions and focusing on a stronger future. By God’s grace, unity will lead us to victory in 2028,” he concluded.
