A devastating accident on the Kumasi-Sunyani Highway has claimed the lives of five people in a head-on collision between a Toyota RAV4 and a commercial Kia truck.
The tragic incident occurred between Duayaw Nkwanta and Bechem in the Ahafo Region on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
The victims, four women and a man, were traveling in the RAV4 from Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region to attend a funeral in Kumasi when the accident happened.
According to reports, the driver and mate of the Kia truck sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Emergency response teams from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and manage traffic congestion.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the crash.
