NDC Demands Detailed Ballot Paper Stats from EC Ahead of Printing
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to furnish them with comprehensive statistics on the upcoming ballot paper printing process before it commences.
This request follows the EC’s recent notification to the NDC regarding the imminent printing and an invitation for party agents to be present on October 10 at the Commission’s offices.
The NDC’s call stems from historical concerns, including allegations of surplus ballot papers printed in previous elections. In a letter dated October 9, the NDC expressed no objections to the EC’s decision but emphasized the necessity of receiving detailed statistics for each constituency before proceeding with printing.
“We insist that accurate statistics must precede the printing of ballot papers,” stated the NDC.
The party highlighted a previous request made on July 22, 2024, for Electoral Code books, underscoring the critical role of precise statistics in ensuring the proper allocation of ballot papers.
Furthermore, the NDC urged the EC to refrain from issuing short notices to political parties on significant national matters, emphasizing the importance of adequate preparation and transparency in electoral processes.
