The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has revealed plans to open six new offices abroad to tackle the issue of fake licenses among Ghanaians living overseas.
This initiative was announced during the unveiling of a state-of-the-art DVLA office in the Adentan Municipality on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
The newly opened Adentan office will operate 24/7, offering a full range of DVLA services, including driver licensing and vehicle registration.
During the event, DVLA CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey shared details of the upcoming international expansion, with the first phase of the project launching in countries like Germany and Canada.
Kotey stated, “Under my leadership, along with Foster Yeboah, we are opening six new stations outside Ghana to address licensing issues. We’ve already secured partnerships with embassies in Germany, the UK, the USA, Canada, Dubai, and South Africa, and will begin piloting these offices soon.”
Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe, speaking as the guest of honor, urged the DVLA to continue improving service delivery and fulfilling its responsibilities. “On behalf of the president, we charge DVLA to enhance its services. They must ensure all vehicles on our roads are registered and roadworthy while providing quality service to the people of Ghana,” he emphasized.
