President John Mahama has proudly announced that his administration holds the distinction of having the most streamlined and efficient government in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, with an unprecedented 56 ministerial appointments.

In an address marking his first 120 days in office, Mahama emphasized that he had kept his promise to create a lean government within the first 90 days of his presidency.

With only 56 ministers and deputy ministers appointed so far— the fewest in the history of the Fourth Republic— he affirmed his commitment to efficiency and focused governance.

“I promised to form the leanest and most efficient government under the Fourth Republic, and I have delivered within the first 90 days,” Mahama declared. He further highlighted that his cabinet appointments were swiftly completed and approved by Parliament, with the new ministers immediately starting their work.

In addition, Mahama outlined the ongoing nomination process for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), which is progressing with confirmations taking place across the country.

Completing this local governance structure, he noted, is vital to realizing his administration’s developmental goals.
