Israeli airstrikes targeting several homes in northern Gaza overnight have resulted in at least 87 individuals dead or missing, according to the territory’s Health Ministry.

The strikes primarily affected Beit Lahiya, a town that was one of the first targets in Israel’s ongoing ground invasion nearly a year ago.

The recent offensive has been underway for two weeks, with Israel asserting that Hamas has reestablished itself in the area. Palestinian officials report that hundreds have lost their lives and that the health system in northern Gaza is nearing collapse.

In parallel, the U.S. is investigating the unauthorized leak of classified documents that detail Israel’s military plans against Iran, following Iran’s ballistic missile attack on October 1. U.S. officials, who requested anonymity, noted that these top-secret documents suggest that Israel was preparing for a military response.

Despite calls from the U.S. for Israel to pursue a cease-fire in Gaza after the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar last week, both Israel and Hamas have shown little interest in reviving negotiations that stalled in August.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to escalate in Lebanon, where Israel has intensified airstrikes on the southern Beirut neighborhood of Dahiyeh, home to many civilians and a strong Hezbollah presence. Just yesterday, a drone strike targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence, though it reportedly caused no injuries.
