A cholera outbreak in Kasoa has tragically claimed the lives of five individuals, with 30 more currently receiving treatment at the Kasoa Polyclinic and Mother and Child Hospital.
Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive, Anita Love Obo Amissah, reported that three victims died on October 31, followed by two more on Friday afternoon, raising the total fatalities.
She urged residents to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean environment and adopting healthy eating habits to curb the disease’s spread.
Anita Love Obo Amissah also noted that patients from neighboring constituencies, including Awutu Senya West and Gomoa East, have been referred to local hospitals, highlighting the need for a collective response to the outbreak.
She praised health authorities for their rapid action and called on residents to stay alert.
“The Mother and Child Hospital and the Kasoa Polyclinic have done their best to manage the situation. I urge the people of Kasoa to prioritize their health and well-being.”
Municipal Environmental Officer Godson Lodo reinforced this message, stressing the necessity for traders and food vendors to maintain cleanliness and ensure that food is served hot to prevent further infections.
