The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has likened himself to a “retired army general” returning to the battlefield as he seeks to lead Ghana once again in the 2024 general elections.

During a meeting with district and municipal Imams in the Ashanti Region on December 2, 2024, Mahama underscored his commitment to resolving Ghana’s economic challenges and governance lapses.

“If we face tough times in war, we recall the retired general to lead. That’s my story. I took a break, but now my party has entrusted me to lead in these difficult times,” Mahama stated, expressing gratitude for the prayers and guidance of the Islamic community.

He also assured the Imams of his plans to legitimize Islamic marriage under Ghana’s constitution, highlighting his dedication to policies that ensure inclusivity and stability for all citizens.
