The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed that the much-anticipated “Thank You” Tour was deliberately postponed to give room for the completion and review of the Mike Ocquaye Committee report—an important step he believes will trigger transformative reforms within the party.

Addressing party faithful at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, April 23, Dr. Bawumia described the report as a crucial blueprint for internal reform and long-term electoral success.

He commended the committee, led by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye, for producing what he called “a comprehensive and honest assessment” of the party’s performance and prospects.

“This report is not just a document—it’s a call to action,” Dr. Bawumia stated. “The recommendations it offers are not only timely, but essential for the rejuvenation of our great party.”

The report, he explained, was the result of extensive consultations with grassroots members, party executives, and key stakeholders. Among the proposed reforms are improvements in internal electoral transparency, revamped communication channels, and deeper engagement with the youth wing of the party.

“To earn and maintain the trust of Ghanaians, and to inspire a new generation of patriots, we must embrace bold reforms,” he urged. “We owe it to the future of the NPP and the future of Ghana.”

Dr. Bawumia further assured party members that the leadership would remain committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity as it charts the next phase of the party’s development.

With the report now complete, he confirmed that the Thank You Tour would soon commence—serving as a platform to reconnect with supporters and share the party’s refreshed vision.

He concluded with a powerful message: “Let us embrace the spirit of renewal. Let us stand united by our values and move forward as one NPP—stronger, better, and more determined than ever.”

The event was attended by key party figures, including national executives, regional chairpersons, and youth leaders, underscoring the significance of the moment for the party’s future direction.
