Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has expressed optimism about Ghana’s future following President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Addressing Parliament after the president’s speech—his first in his second term—Ayariga acknowledged the nation’s economic struggles but highlighted the renewed sense of hope Mahama’s address has instilled.

“Mr. Speaker, our economy has faced setbacks, and the reality is unfortunate. However, His Excellency the President has given us a reason to believe in a better tomorrow,” he stated.

He emphasized that Mahama’s speech resonated with diverse groups, including the youth, women, Okada riders, the private sector, and students. According to him, the strong public support for Mahama’s vision underscores the trust Ghanaians have in his leadership.

“Mr. Speaker, there is no doubt that the commitments outlined today inspire hope, and this house stands ready to support His Excellency in fulfilling them,” he assured.

Ayariga also stressed the importance of accountability, insisting that those responsible for the country’s economic hardships must be held responsible.

“This house will fully back His Excellency in ensuring accountability. Those who have caused harm to our economy must answer for their actions,” he declared.
