Mahama to Black Stars: We Still Believe in You
President John Mahama pays a surprise visit to the Black Stars, urging them to rise above setbacks and fight for World Cup qualification.

President John Dramani Mahama surprised the Black Stars with a visit during their training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
His presence was aimed at lifting the team’s spirits as they prepare for their vital 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Acknowledging their recent setbacks, Mahama reassured the players and technical team that the nation’s faith in them remains strong.
“We didn’t qualify for AFCON, and when we did last time, we exited early. But we haven’t given up on you. The Black Stars can reclaim their glory, and that depends on you—the players, the technical team, and management,” he encouraged.
He urged the team to give their all, emphasizing that success lies in their commitment and effort.
“The goals will come from these feet right here. It takes sacrifice and strength. We love watching you shine for your clubs, and we expect the same dedication for the national team,” he added.
The Black Stars will take on Chad on March 21 before facing Madagascar three days later in Morocco as they continue their journey toward World Cup qualification.
