The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a delay for the inaugural direct flight from London Gatwick to Kumasi’s Prempeh I International Airport, originally scheduled for December 3, 2024.

The delay, attributed to short notice, means the flight will now arrive later this week.

The service, a collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, marks a historic achievement by connecting Kumasi to the UK directly, positioning it as the first city in Ghana, outside of Accra, to offer international flights.

While the exact new arrival date is yet to be confirmed, GACL has assured the public that the second flight, scheduled for December 15, 2024, will proceed as planned.

This development is part of GACL’s broader efforts to improve air connectivity and regional development, boosting tourism, trade, and investment in Kumasi and surrounding areas.

Travelers are encouraged to stay informed via GACL’s official communication channels.
