Clement Ike Quartey, Senior brother of Ghanaian boxing icon Ike Bazooka Quartey has sadly passed away at the age of 86 in the United Kingdom.

The Ghana Boxing Federation confirmed the news on Saturday, November 2, 2024, though details surrounding his death remain undisclosed.

Clement Quartey made history as Ghana’s first Olympic medalist, securing a silver medal at the 1960 Rome Games.

He claimed a gold medal at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Australia.

With a career record of 7 wins out of 9 fights, he is celebrated as one of the trailblazers of boxing in Ghana.
