8 Killed, Several Critically Injured in Fatal Crash on Yeji-Kumasi Highway

Eight people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway in Ghana’s Bono East Region on the evening of Monday, April 28, 2025.

The crash, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Nyumuase in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality, also left 11 others in critical condition.

The victims were traveling in a mini bus (registration AS 4360-23) from Ejura to Yeji, most of them believed to be cattle traders returning from work. The injured are currently being treated at Mathias Hospital in Yeji.

According to a survivor, the driver was speeding when the vehicle struck a pothole, causing it to veer off and crash.

The Pru East District Chief Executive, Abdul-Nasir Dauda, blamed the accident on the deteriorating state of the road between Amantin and Yeji and urged motorists to drive cautiously.

Some of the deceased are expected to be laid to rest today, April 29, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
