Ghana’s inflation rate reached 23.8% in December 2024, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
This marks a slight increase from the 23.0% recorded in November and exceeds the government’s end-of-year target of 15%.
The rise in inflation was primarily driven by an increase in food prices, which jumped from 25.9% to 27.8%. Non-food inflation, however, saw a slight decrease from 20.7% to 20.3%.
This marks the fourth consecutive month of rising inflation.
The GSS attributed the increase to a variety of factors, including rising food prices and ongoing global economic challenges.
