Yiadom Boakye Emmanuel, a former President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) early Friday morning presented a cash amount of GhC10, 000 cedis to traders at the burnt Bluelight Market.

In addition to the cash, Mr Yiadom Boakye also supported the traders with 50 bags of cement.

Speaking to the media, Mr Boakye said he was touched by the plight of the traders especially the youth amongst them and decided to donate to support them.

“As youthful as I am I believe we could do something to assuage the pain of my brothers and sisters who sold here and so this morning I decided to bring my widow’s mite to support them to bounce back to business and to also encourage them that God will see them through these difficult times as they also plan to rebuild the burnt arena”, Mr Boakye stated.

Appeal:
Popularly known as YB, the former NUGS President rallied the youth especially those within the NPP party to show support to the traders at Bluelight Market.

He noted that it was not so much about the quantum or volume of support that mattered but the heart to support which was important.

Mr Boakye also encouraged other individuals, organisations and institutions to show support to the traders.

“I urge my colleague youths not to shy away from such opportunities to show support to the needy and in this case the traders who previously sold here so that we can help them bounce back to business”, Mr Boakye noted.

Tour:
Earlier on, YB together with some NPP faithful and youth elements toured the burnt Bluelight arena.

Interacting with the traders and hawkers at the site, YB asked them to have hope since God was able to restore to them what they’ve lost through the fire outbreak.

He also appealed to them to wait patiently for what the Asantehene would have for them when he returns from his journey.

“Let’s keep hope alive and wait patiently for what Otumfuo would say about the situation here so that we can know how to move on with plans to rebuild the site”, YB appealed.
