Mahama: Better Pay, Timely Benefits Coming for Military Personnel

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the living and working conditions of Ghana’s military personnel and civilian staff.

During a graduation ceremony for officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11, President Mahama assured the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) of enhanced welfare packages and timely benefits, especially for retired service members.

“I am resolute in my commitment to systematically enhance your conditions of service,” he said. “The GEHOC project will be pivotal in securing sustainable funding for the Ghana Armed Forces. Your dedication and sacrifices must be met with the recognition and support they truly deserve.”

He also stressed that retirees would not be left behind, promising prompt payment of their retirement benefits.

Acknowledging the crucial role the armed forces play in safeguarding national peace and contributing to development, President Mahama emphasized that his government is working to provide the necessary tools and resources to boost the institution’s effectiveness.

The ceremony drew high-ranking military officers, government officials, foreign envoys, and the families of the graduating cadets.
