NPP Accuses Gov’t of Silencing Minority Over Mysterious Flight Controversy
Party Demands Transparency as Government Faces Growing Scrutiny Over Foreign Aircraft and Drug Trafficking Cases

- NPP criticizes government for defensive response
- Calls for a detailed investigation into the planes' missions and cargo
- Demands updates on major drug trafficking cases linked to NDC
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sharply criticized the government for allegedly intimidating the minority over their questions regarding two foreign aircraft—AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B—that mysteriously landed in Ghana.
In a statement issued on April 6, signed by NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah, the party demanded full transparency and accountability from the government regarding the purpose of the aircrafts’ visits.
The NPP expressed frustration with the government’s response, led by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, calling it insufficient and defensive, further fueling public distrust.
The NPP raised concerns about the planes’ unexpected breakdowns while in the country, asserting that the government’s failure to clarify the situation only strengthens suspicions of a cover-up. They also pointed to a call from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for a thorough investigation into the aircraft’s operations.
The party pressed for a clear and professional response from security agencies on the cargo and the planes’ activities in Ghana.
Additionally, the NPP demanded updates on two significant drug trafficking cases, including a $350 million cocaine bust in Cape Coast and a $150 million seizure in Sekondi, which allegedly involves a senior National Democratic Congress (NDC) figure.
The NPP criticized the government’s silence on these cases, warning that it erodes public trust and raises concerns about Ghana’s commitment to international law.
They emphasized the seriousness of issues like drug trafficking and money laundering, stressing the need for transparency to protect the nation’s credibility. The NPP vowed to continue holding the government accountable for these critical matters.
