The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Assembly Members caucus in the Ashanti Region has issued a three-day ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh as the winner of the Council of State Elections in the region.
The caucus, which comprises 45 assembly members and eligible voters in the Council of State elections, made this announcement during a press conference held at the party’s Ashanti Regional headquarters on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
They claimed that all 45 members voted for Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh in the just-ended Council of State Elections, held at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council yesterday. They are, therefore, confident of their victory.
Speaking to the press, Hon. Isaac Manu, Assembly Member for Hiankose Abodiase Kokeo Electoral Area, urged the public to disregard claims from the camp of Nana Nkansah Boadu that they had won the election.
In his statement, Mr. Isaac Manu denied allegations suggesting that the thugs who disrupted yesterday’s elections were members of the NDC.
He emphasized that NDC members would not engage in such acts and called on the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
