A 34-year-old woman in Masaka City, central Uganda, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the horrifying abuse of her neighbor’s 10-month-old child.
Stella Namwanje was convicted after a disturbing viral video surfaced showing her feeding the baby feces and urine.
The child was later found to have a healing wound on his eye, suggesting torture during the abuse.
Prosecutors revealed that Namwanje, who is HIV-positive, confessed to the crime but pleaded for mercy, expressing regret for her actions.
However, the court condemned her behavior as “barbaric” and “unfit for society,” emphasizing the need for justice and protection for innocent children.
Despite her remorse and being a first-time offender, the judge sentenced Namwanje to 35 years in prison, aiming to send a clear message to potential abusers.
The victim’s mother, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the sentence, advocating for a harsher penalty.
