A pregnant woman and four other individuals have been remanded into police custody by the Asokwa Circuit Court in connection with the fatal robberies of two mobile money vendors in Krofrom and Kwadaso, both in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

Police investigations reveal that the woman allegedly acted as an informant for the robbery gang. She is accused of befriending the victims to earn their trust before supplying the gang with crucial details that led to their fatal ambushes.

The coordinated attacks ended in the deaths of both vendors and the theft of substantial sums of money.

During court proceedings on Wednesday, the pregnant suspect requested bail on health grounds, citing her condition.

However, presiding judge Her Honour Afia Owusuaa Appiah rejected the plea, along with bail requests from the other accused, emphasizing the severity of the case and the ongoing nature of the investigation.

The case has been adjourned to May 21, 2025, while police continue gathering evidence.

The twin murders have sparked widespread concern, with local residents fearful for the safety of mobile money agents in the area.
