Bawumia Promises Continued Focus on Employment Despite Economic Challenges
- Bawumia reports 2.6 million jobs created since 2017
- He notes 1.4 million jobs in the private sector; 1.2 million in the public sector
- Bawumia promises further job creation if elected
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, proudly announced that the Akufo-Addo administration has set a record in job creation, surpassing all previous governments.
According to data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other sources, approximately 2.6 million jobs have been generated, with 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.
Bawumia emphasized that this accomplishment demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing Ghana’s economy and increasing opportunities for its citizens.
While he acknowledged the ongoing economic challenges, he reassured the public of his focus on further job creation if elected in the upcoming December elections.
“We have achieved an impressive milestone in job creation over the last seven years. As of the latest data, from 2017 to 2024, we have created 2.6 million jobs 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector. This is the highest record for any government in the Fourth Republic. We still have work to do, especially since unemployment remains high and our youth continue to seek jobs,” Bawumia stated during his Youth Engagement event in Accra on November 3.
