Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has declared John Dramani Mahama as the winner of Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election, affirming the election’s credibility and transparency.

Announcing the results of the 2024 Presidential election at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, December 9, Jean Mensa confirmed that Mr. Mahama secured 6,382,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total votes cast. His main rival, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).

Other candidates in the race included Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar) of the New Force Movement with 84,478 votes (0.75%), Alan Kyerematen of Movement for Change with 31,202 votes (0.28%), Kofi Akapaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana with 16,072 votes (0.09%), and Nana Akosua Sarpong of the CPP with 23,397 votes (0.21%).

In her declaration, Jean Mensa expressed gratitude for the peaceful and transparent process, emphasizing that the Electoral Commission had upheld its commitment to inclusivity and fairness.

“The voters of Ghana have spoken, and their decision has been honored. With God’s guidance, we have conducted an election that is credible, fair, transparent, and peaceful,” she stated.
