Government ramps up emergency efforts to eliminate illegal mining and restore natural resources

Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal mining (galamsey), assuring citizens that the battle is being handled with the highest level of urgency.

In an interview, Buah stressed the government’s relentless efforts to curb the menace and restore Ghana’s natural resources.

“We are treating this as an emergency, working around the clock to address it with the urgency it deserves,” he affirmed.

He highlighted President Mahama’s strong focus on tackling galamsey, noting that significant progress is already being made.

Buah assured Ghanaians that all necessary measures are in place to combat the issue effectively.

“As Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, I can confidently say that we are addressing this with utmost seriousness. Ghanaians can rest assured that we will be relentless—and we will win this fight,” he declared.
