Trump’s Win is Not a Predictor for Mahama’s Success in Ghana – Antwi-Danso
International Relations Expert Warns Against Drawing Parallels Between US and Ghana's Political Landscape
- Dr. Antwi-Danso stressed that Ghana's political context is vastly different from the US
- Antwi-Danso underscored Trump’s strategic use of America’s economic woes and foreign policy issues to secure his win in 2024
- The expert noted Trump’s biggest hurdles will be reviving the US economy post-COVID-19
International relations expert, Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso, has dismissed any logic in comparing the US 2024 presidential election outcome with Ghana’s upcoming general elections.
He emphasized that the political landscapes in both countries are fundamentally different and warned Ghanaians not to draw parallels between the two.
Speaking with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio’s Election Home political program, Dr. Antwi-Danso stated, “The US system is different from Ghana’s, and we should not use the US election to measure Ghana’s election.”
He rejected the notion that if Donald Trump wins in the US, it would somehow predict a John Mahama victory in Ghana.
While he acknowledged that Trump’s win was no surprise, calling it the result of a well-executed strategy, Antwi-Danso pointed out that Trump leveraged the economic challenges facing America and focused on swing states to secure his victory.
He also noted that Trump now faces significant challenges, particularly in addressing the post-pandemic economy and managing global conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas situation.
