Mustapha Gbande Urges Ghanaians to Follow the U.S. Election and Vote for Mahama

Ghanaians' Hopes for Better Living Standards Under Akufo-Addo Unmet, Says Gbande

Story Highlights
  • Ghanaians expected Akufo-Addo to improve their living standards but have been disappointed
  • Gbande emphasizes that poor leadership is not tied to any one party
  • He urges voters to make a decisive choice for better governance in the upcoming election

Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has encouraged Ghanaians to draw inspiration from the outcome of the U.S. 2024 elections and vote for John Mahama in the upcoming December 7 polls.

Reacting to Donald Trump’s victory in securing over 270 Electoral College votes and reclaiming the White House for a second term, Gbande noted the historic nature of Trump’s political comeback, despite enduring years of legal challenges.

Speaking on Lawson TV/Radio’s Election Home program, Gbande highlighted that, much like Americans who regret their previous decision to vote Trump out, Ghanaians have become disillusioned with President Akufo-Addo’s leadership.

He criticized the Akufo-Addo’s administration for failing to improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, claiming that Akufo-Addo’s promises of better living standards had only resulted in hardship and increased suffering.

“Ghanaians hoped that President Akufo-Addo would improve their living conditions, but unfortunately, that has not happened. Poor leadership is poor leadership, regardless of the political party, and bad governance remains bad governance,” he told Kwame Tanko.

Gbande further emphasized that, just as Americans rallied behind Trump for a second term, Ghanaians should unite behind John Mahama to restore hope and prosperity.

He pointed out the stark contrast between the public appearances of the two leaders, sarcastically noting that while Trump, despite his age, remains energetic and engaged, President Akufo-Addo has been frequently seen sleeping in public gatherings,

He urged voters to take a close look at their lives and make a decisive choice for the future of Ghana.
