Three Robbers Get 125 Years for Volta Region Robbery
Three men face a total of 125 years in prison for their involvement in a daring robbery that shook the Volta Regio

The Ho Circuit Court has handed three men a total of 125 years in prison with hard labour for their role in a robbery that yielded GH₵825,000 in cash and valuables.
The convicted robbers include Nzete Chukunhru Best, a 28-year-old second-hand clothes dealer; Mark Billy Agbozo, a 31-year-old teacher; and Ernest Sokpi Amevor, a 32-year-old driver and self-styled peacemaker.
They were found guilty of violating sections 20(1) and 149(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) as amended by the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Act 2003 (Act 646).
The crime, committed on May 29, 2021, at Ayitikope-Akatsi in the Volta Region, involved a Daewoo taxi cab (registration number GE 3739-12) used to raid the home of Atsu Kumordzi, a lotto agent. The loot included GH₵160,000, GH₵640,000 in CFA Francs, and an additional GH₵25,000 owned by Peace Lordeena Sedofia.
Presided over by His Lordship Felix Datsomor, the court sentenced each man to 25 years for every offense, to be served consecutively. Investigators continue to pursue six other alleged accomplices who reportedly acted as informants and aided in the crime.
