The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is urging individuals and institutions to join forces in the fight against poverty, which remains a significant barrier to children’s education in Ghana.

He emphasized the need for increased investments to enhance support for teachers and improve educational infrastructure, which are essential for laying a strong foundation for Ghana’s future.

Reflecting on the achievements of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, established 25 years ago, the Asantehene described its progress as both humbling and motivating.

The foundation was founded after Otumfuo’s ascension to the Golden Stool 26 years ago, with a vision to uplift Asanteman and Ghana through dignity, resilience, and equal opportunities for all.

In its early stages, the Foundation supported 600 students across Ghana’s three public universities. Over the years, Otumfuo expanded the Foundation’s focus, launching transformative initiatives in education, health, water and sanitation, as well as culture and heritage.

The Foundation has consistently worked to support less privileged individuals and communities, both within the Asante Kingdom and beyond, with a particular focus on empowering underserved areas.

At the Foundation’s 25th-anniversary celebration, the Asantehene launched an Endowment Fund to ensure the sustainability of its projects.

He appealed to the public for collaborative efforts, stating, “I call on you not just to give, but to partner with us. Let your gift tonight be a legacy and a bridge between what we have achieved and what we still hope to do. Let us ensure that no child in Ghana is denied education because of poverty.”

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor officially launched the Endowment Fund, which aims to raise ₵50 million over the next five years to support the Foundation’s initiatives.

He emphasized that the Fund is designed to safeguard the future of the Foundation’s vision and purpose.

Donors were recognized and honored for their contributions, receiving certificates and plaques based on their donation tiers.
