A 24-year-old farmer, Wisabu Kwame, has been ordered to remain in police custody for two weeks by the Nkwanta South Magistrate Court in connection with the alleged murder of his five-year-old daughter.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Pawa, a farming community situated within the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region.

Presenting the case to the court, Police Detective Bright Nkansah stated that Kwame allegedly beat his daughter until she lost consciousness after the child soiled herself while they were working on their farm.

The unconscious child was immediately taken to a nearby health facility and subsequently transferred to the Nkwanta St. Joseph Catholic Hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Nkwanta South Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr. George Valentine Arhine, has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death.

The two-week remand of Kwame is intended to provide law enforcement agencies with sufficient time to gather further evidence and conduct a thorough investigation, which will be crucial in aiding the prosecution of the case.

This deeply concerning incident has undoubtedly sent shockwaves through the local community in the Oti Region and across Ghana.
