Pregnant Woman Among Survivors of Amanase Crash Loses Baby

A heart-wrenching development has emerged following the tragic Amanase accident that occurred on Tuesday, April 22, along the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
Among the survivors of the devastating crash, which claimed 11 lives instantly, was a pregnant woman who, despite surviving the collision, tragically lost her unborn child due to the force of the impact.
Medical staff at the Suhum Government Hospital confirmed the heartbreaking loss after conducting an ultrasound scan upon her arrival. The scan revealed that the baby had not survived the trauma. The woman also sustained a serious degloving injury to her skull, prompting immediate surgical intervention.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to transfer one of two critically injured victims to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for advanced care.
Dr. Ama Afriyie, the emergency ward’s lead physician, briefed Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey on the medical status of all admitted patients. The Minister visited the hospital and donated GHC 5,000 towards the initial treatment of the victims.
She urged hospital staff to provide comprehensive care to those hospitalized, assuring them that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will cover all expenses, especially for victims without family support.
