Akosua Manu, a former parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Adentan, has fiercely criticized the current direction of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under President Mahama, labeling their so-called “reset agenda” as a “bloodless coup.”

She claims the initiative is not a democratic reform, but rather a deliberate attempt to undermine and take control of Ghana’s democratic institutions.

Her remarks come amid growing public concern following the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo and a controversial security operation at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Ernest Addison — events many have denounced as politically motivated.

Manu warned that these actions reflect a broader erosion of democratic norms and institutional integrity. Drawing on historical context, she noted that public trust in the judiciary has long been fragile, but insisted that NPP administrations have worked to rebuild that trust — efforts she believes are now being reversed.

“When the NPP governs, there’s progress. But when the NDC takes over, things fall apart. Power outages are back, inflation is climbing, and public servants are losing their jobs,” she said.

To Manu, the reset narrative is a cover for an orchestrated seizure of power. “This reset isn’t about reform; it’s a strategic infiltration of key state organs. What else do you call it when national security storms someone’s home without a warrant?”
