Afenyo-Markin Invited by Police Over Alleged Officer Confrontation

The Ghana Police Service has invited Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to assist in an investigation following a viral video that allegedly shows him physically confronting a police officer during the recent ‘Save the Judiciary’ protest.

In a statement, the Police confirmed that after reviewing multiple video recordings of the incident, they have officially requested Parliament to release Afenyo-Markin to cooperate with their ongoing probe.

The police officer involved in the alleged altercation is also expected to assist with the investigation.

Meanwhile, Bright Ofori Ampofo, NPP Chairman for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, has publicly defended Afenyo-Markin, claiming the lawmaker was provoked into reacting after being struck by the officer.
