Former President John Agyekum Kufour has urged Ghanaians to refrain from violence as the December elections draw near.

Speaking in a national address on Sunday, November 17, Kufour emphasized that elections are an expression of opinions, not a reason for conflict.

He noted that individuals resorting to violence demonstrate a lack of love for their country.

He further called on citizens to respect the 1992 Constitution, which he described as the foundation of Ghana’s democracy.

Acknowledging the rising tension ahead of the polls, he encouraged calm and unity.

Kufour also advised Ghanaians to support whichever candidate emerges victorious, reminding the nation that any underperforming leader can be replaced in four years through the electoral process.

“Power belongs to the people. We should allow the Constitution to work and trust the system. After four years, we’ll have the chance to choose the next president,” he stated.
