The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has conceded defeat.

In a statement to the nation on Sunday, December 8, a day after the election, Dr. Bawumia revealed that he had called President-elect John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him.

Dr. Bawumia assured Mr. Mahama of his full support during the transition process.

“The data from our internal coalition of election results indicate that former President John Dramani Mahama has won the Presidential election decisively. The NDC has also won the parliamentary elections, although we are still awaiting the final coalition for several seats. However, I believe this will not change the overall outcome.”

“I have just called President-elect John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him. I said during the signing of the peace pact that I would assure two things: Ghana will win and peace will reign. The people of Ghana have spoken and voted for change at this time, and we respect that decision with all humility. I thank Almighty God for how far He has brought me, and I submit to His will,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia added that although the NPP has lost, they will go back to the drawing board, learn from the experience, and come back stronger.
