Black Stars Will Rise Again – Jordan Ayew Assures Mahama

Ghana captain promises a turnaround as the team prepares for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured former President John Mahama that the team is fully committed to bouncing back as they gear up for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar in their Matchday five and six fixtures.

The senior national team has struggled in 2024, securing only two wins in their last 10 matches. However, during Mahama’s visit to their training session on Wednesday, he offered words of encouragement to the players ahead of their decisive encounters.

Despite acknowledging the team’s recent challenges, Ayew expressed confidence in their ability to turn things around.

“Your presence here is a huge motivation for us. We know we’re in a difficult situation, but we’re not afraid. We will turn things around on Friday, so you can relax. We’ll do the job for the nation,” Ayew assured.

After missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades, the Black Stars are eager to make amends by securing a spot in the World Cup.
