Outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed hope that the incoming administration of John Mahama will prioritize and complete the Agenda 111 healthcare projects.
Akufo-Addo emphasized that over the years, he has worked hard to build a robust healthcare system, with one of the main initiatives being the Agenda 111 hospitals, which are being constructed across the nation.
“The most significant project is Agenda 111. I trust that the Mahama administration will ensure its completion so that our healthcare infrastructure is fully developed,” he stated.
Akufo-Addo revealed that, out of the 111 hospitals and two proposed psychiatric hospitals planned, three have already been inaugurated. The rest are at different stages of progress.
In his final State of the Nation Address on January 3, the president expressed optimism that the projects would eventually be finished.
The Agenda 111 hospitals are part of an initiative to build healthcare facilities in 90 districts across the country, particularly in areas lacking adequate health services. However, some projects are still at the foundation phase.
The initiative has already cost millions of dollars, and the government has recently highlighted the need for additional funding to continue the construction.
