Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau, has been rearrested and remains in police custody despite completing a seven-day remand ordered by the court.
Adu-Boahene, who is facing serious charges including theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state, was initially remanded on May 2 over allegations of attempting to tamper with a witness.
However, on Tuesday, May 13, his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, revealed in court that his client had been taken into custody again in relation to a different investigation. Though details of the fresh arrest remain unclear, the Attorney General had previously disclosed that Adu-Boahene is being probed for a case involving internet connectivity at Ghana Water Limited.
Meanwhile, in the main case concerning the alleged misappropriation of GH¢49.1 million, the court has scheduled a case management conference for May 26.
The state has submitted all its witness statements and is expected to share them with the defense no later than May 20.
