A 32-year-old tiler, Stephen Otu, known as Atta, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison with hard labor by the Tarkwa Circuit Court in Ghana.
He was found guilty of defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old girl. Otu admitted to the crime and asked for leniency, but the judge imposed the sentence to deter similar offenses.
The prosecution detailed how Otu met the girl, learned her age, and subsequently lured her into his room for repeated sexual encounters, even giving her money afterward.
The pregnancy was discovered by the girl’s mother, leading to a police report and subsequent medical confirmation. Otu was then arrested and charged.
