The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been formally petitioned to investigate accusations of corruption against Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board.

The petition, filed by citizen Eric Dumenu Akatsi, invokes Article 218(e) of the 1992 Constitution, alleging that Gyamfi’s actions contradict the ethical standards expected of a public official.

The petition references a viral video from May 10, 2025, which reportedly shows Gyamfi throwing U.S. dollar bills at renowned evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Agradaa, from his luxury Range Rover. Akatsi claims this behavior is a clear sign of unexplained wealth.

Additionally, the petition accuses Gyamfi of holding two private accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana—one in Ghanaian cedis and the other in U.S. dollars—with deposits exceeding GHS 100 million.

The petitioner argues that such substantial inflows into these accounts, which were not present before Gyamfi’s current role, raise suspicions of corruption, especially when coupled with the dollar-splashing incident.

Citing his civic duty under Article 41(f) of the Constitution, Akatsi has called on CHRAJ to conduct a thorough investigation into the origin of Gyamfi’s wealth and financial dealings.
