A 20-year-old man, Nawaf Abdulai, has been handed a 15-year jail sentence by the Wa Circuit Court for his involvement in a motorbike robbery in the Upper West Region.

The incident occurred on March 6, 2025, when Abdulai and an accomplice, Awal Abass—who is still on the run—forcefully stole two motorbikes, a Haojue and a Luojia, registered M-21-449 UW and M-17-4607 UW.

Thanks to prompt police work, Abdulai was arrested at his home just two days later. He confessed to the crime during questioning, which led to his prosecution.

On April 7, 2025, His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo found him guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. The court cited the need to uphold justice and deter rising robbery cases in the region.

The Upper West Regional Police Command applauded both officers and the public for their collaboration and reaffirmed its dedication to curbing crime. Authorities also explained that Abdulai’s photo was released to the public because of his official conviction.
