- Fire erupts at Suame Magazine, destroying vehicles, spare parts, and equipment worth millions
- Eyewitnesses suggest electrical fault and gas cylinders ignited the blaze
- No casualties reported; second fire in the area within four days
A devastating fire engulfed several shops at Suame Magazine, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, reducing valuable assets to ashes.
The inferno, which erupted late Friday night, January 31, consumed vehicles, spare parts, and auto-mechanic equipment worth millions of cedis.
Firefighters swiftly responded with five fire tenders, battling the raging flames as residents fled for safety. Though the exact cause remains unclear, eyewitnesses suspect an electrical fault sparked the blaze, which escalated after igniting nearby gas cylinders.
Thankfully, no casualties have been reported. However, this incident comes just four days after a similar fire gutted ten cars and shops in the same area. Suame Magazine, the region’s largest auto-mechanic hub, now faces yet another setback.
